WAY TO GO TORONTO. INTRODUCING AIRPORT WAYFINDER® SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (May 8, 2008) - Navigating one's way through Toronto's Pearson International Airport (YYZ) just got a lot easier, with today's announcement that YYZ is now offering the exclusive Airport Wayfinder® video streaming service to travelers visiting the Toronto Pearson website. Phase One of the new service goes "live" from the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) site www.gtaa.com later this month. Prior to arrival at the airport, travelers can now obtain information about Toronto Pearson's Terminal 1 on-line, in French and English, including arrival and departure processes, customs and immigration locations, with special segments about the various connections processes at Pearson - a virtual but real online airport for the traveler. To experience Airport Wayfinder's latest release now, visit: The Airport Wayfinder is a web-based and in-flight service offering video "walk-throughs" of airport terminals, jointly marketed by Airports Council International (ACI) in partnership with Air Travel Video Technologies, LLC (ATV). ATV is a leading producer and distributor of immersive 3D airport information products used by airports and airlines with their consumers. Travelers can now breeze through an airport by knowing what to expect direct from their laptops. "Airport Wayfinder takes the uncertainty out of trying to find your way through a new airport or airline terminal by enabling the traveler to experience the airport before ever getting there," says Nancy Grimes, the founder of ATV and executive producer of Airport Wayfinder. "Whether an overall airport overview, inter-terminal connection process, departure and arrival information, ground transportation, parking or just finding the closest Starbuck's to your gate, Airport Wayfinder eases one's travel schedule by preparing the traveler before arrival." Just as you would book your flight on-line and research traveling in a new city before getting there, Airport Wayfinder sets the stage for what to expect at the airport, generally a passenger's biggest cause for anxiety. Grimes, who created Airport Wayfinder in 1993, based on her expertise working with travelers in the commercial airline and airport industries, explains that 'wayfinding' or 'finding one's way' is not simply a matter of following signs and directions, but knowing how to deal with the total airport environment through increased situational awareness. "Wayfinding involves all the information that people use to negotiate an environment, using their own past experiences, their attitudes toward new experience, and their levels of perception and recognition," Grimes explains. "People now bookmark Airport Wayfinder right next to Expedia or their frequent flyer program, and use it for every trip." Grimes states that everyone has a travel tale to tell, adding, "Topping the list for frustration for travelers is pure lack of accurate and timely information. To be situationally aware before arriving at the airport eases the traveler's experience. Kudos to Toronto Pearson for doing everything it can to make their customers more comfortable, with the overall experience at the airport." Connection Process - All About Ease
Additional elements of Airport Wayfinder will include airport overview essentials, ground transportation services, shops and food outlets, and parking. These elements will be expanded to include Terminal 3, which will be phased in over the course of the next three to four months. Stay tuned for Airport Wayfinder adding services featuring anything a traveler would want to know to enhance their experience at Toronto Pearson. On Board Air Canada GTAA, which unveiled its new International Pier in Terminal 1 in January of 2007, recently launched its Airport Master Plan for 2008-2030 which includes extensive planning to maximize growth potential of the airport. Airports Council International (ACI) is the association of the world's airports. It is a non-profit organization, whose prime purpose is to advance the interests of airports and to promote professional excellence in airport management and operations. ACI makes a significant contribution to providing the traveling public with an air transport system that is safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible. In 2005, airportwayfinder.com was launched in partnership with ATV. ACI selected ATV's Airport Wayfinder to offer to its Airport Members as a valuable media resource in order to communicate with travelers and to differentiate individual airport environments, increase passenger satisfaction and to foster business growth. Boston Logan International Airport (BOS); Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL); Portland International Airport (PDX); and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) are the first of the world's airports to subscribe to this innovative web-based airport information service. Air Travel Video Technologies, LLC (ATV) was founded in 1993. ATV is the world's leading producer of international airport information for the world's airports and airlines, using copyrighted scripts and proprietary animation techniques.
